By the time I shot Mieke and Josh's wedding I had inadvertently spent more time with them than nearly every couple beforehand, and that made for a very relaxed and comfortable wedding day shoot. Mieke is an educator at the Douglas J/Aveda institute, and Josh works here in town for a major pharmaceutical company.
Because of our ties with Douglas J, and our proximity to Kristiane's frequent backyard cocktail parties of which the happy couple are always in attendance, I had a number of opportunities to hang out with and get to know them. We took some pictures along the way, had a few beers and even traded some music.
When we finally went out and did the engagement photos, Mieke and Josh were more than ready to relax and be themselves for the cameras, which always makes for great images. This relaxed nature between subject and lens carried over into the wedding and made for smooth sailing (read: picture taking) all throughout the day. We even had time to shoot Josh's mint '71 Chevelle and Mieke's dog Zion, a lab retriever mix, before the reception.
Congrats again guys, I can't remember the last time I had so much fun at work...
